Fifth year HUC Rabbinical student, Anne Brener, is a writer, psychotherapist, spiritual director, and lecturer, who is on the faculty of the Academy for Jewish Religion-LA. She is the author of Mourning & Mitzvah and many other publications on rituals of healing. She is on the Board of the Los Angeles Community Mikveh and Education Center and trains and supervises spiritual directors.

Ritual and prayer can facilitate transformation, growth, and healing. Using the ancient Jewish ritual of immersion in a mikvah or ritual bath, Jews across the spectrum of observance are marking moments transitions and transformations in their lives with creative ceremonies, and are placing these moments within the sacred embrace of community and the arc of Jewish tradition.
