Introduction to Rav Yoga

Jewish Infused Yoga

  • Friday 7:00AM–8:15AM Empire Room 2

Arts and Performance, Ritual and Prayer

Begin the day with an intense and powerful session of yoga, lightly infused with the breath of Judaism. This all level class builds strength, supports healing, and creates balance, joy, and integrity. Forrest Yoga and Vinyasa Flow meet up with the Jewish principles of going deeper, respecting all creation, honoring your divine soul, and promoting overall health and wellness.

Tefilla Yoga

Prayer on the mat, from the inside-out

  • Saturday 9:00AM–10:15AM Empire Room 2

Ritual and Prayer

An inner prayer experience that translates the siddur into a physical sequence, this Shabbat morning you pray on the mat. This practice builds a sequence of postures that correspond to themes and specific key words of traditional Jewish prayers. A new keva inspires renewed kavanah. Come in yoga clothes for an intense session! Modifications can be made for those with injuries or illness; please speak with your instructor before the session.

The Jew in the Lotus

Where We Were Then, Where We Are Today

  • Saturday 1:00PM–2:15PM Empire Room 1

The 1990 travelogue about the Dalai Lama's request to learn the secrets of Jewish survival in exile appeared while many Jews were on alternative spiritual paths. So it came as news that the Buddhist leader wanted to learn about our people's ways. Today, Jews returning from studies in other faith traditions, as well as those recovering traditional Jewish spiritual practices, are bringing methods that restore and advance the vitality and meaning of being Jewish. Our panelists will discuss the personal and professional impact of the diverse spiritual tools they have uncovered, live, and teach.

Shabbatsana Peaceful Yoga

Better than a Shabbos nap!

  • Saturday 3:00PM–4:15PM Empire Room 2

Identity and Responsibility, Ritual and Prayer

Before we complete Shabbat with Havdalah, we’ll make sure you’ve had a full dose of Shabbat rest. You’re in store for some seriously deep relaxation and renewal with this restorative Rav Yoga workshop that emphasizes the sacredness of rest on Shabbat; peace and healing also feature prominently. Learn how to embrace the peace and let go of stress with an “ooooh, ahhhh, ohhhh.” Wear yoga clothes or comfortable Shabbat clothes (pants necessary), and bring 2-3 blankets and a pillow from your room.
