Jay Feinberg was 22 years old when he was diagnosed with leukemia and told he needed a bone marrow transplant. Close relatives were not matches and a world-wide search was launched. Four years later a match was found and his life was saved. This grassroots campaign became the Gift of Life Bone Marrow Foundation and in 12 years has recruited more than 120,000 donors, saving 1,500 lives. Jay is the inaugural recipient of the Charles Bronfman Prize in recognition of humanitarian achievement.
