Jay Feinberg was 22 years old when he was diagnosed with leukemia and told he needed a bone marrow transplant. Close relatives were not matches and a world-wide search was launched. Four years later a match was found and his life was saved. This grassroots campaign became the Gift of Life Bone Marrow Foundation and in 12 years has recruited more than 120,000 donors, saving 1,500 lives. Jay is the inaugural recipient of the Charles Bronfman Prize in recognition of humanitarian achievement.

Hear Jay Feinberg's inspirational story as a 13-year bone-marrow transplant survivor. Learn how building Gift of Life Bone Marrow Foundation’s donor registry as a medical resource for the Jewish community teaches the Jewish values of Tikkun Olam. Gift of Life partners, like Hillel, give students of all ages leadership skills that will last them a lifetime. In addition, Birthright Israel participants can join Gift of Life's registry in Israel, enabling them to give in return for their trip.
