Get ready for an edgy-pop, girl-power rock show. Naomi Less, Jewish Chick Rocker, actor and experiential educator launched a new project to help Jewish develop resiliency tools. Her Jewish Chicks Rock-show amplifies messages of empowerment, hope, strength and confidence to young girls. Educators across the world use her music to build tolerance, empowerment, self-esteem and confidence in both young women and co-ed audiences. Naomi performs, trains and inspires teens, ‘tweens in RockShops!

Master facilitator Naomi Less takes educators and allies for teen girls and all teens through the challenges of addressing issues that are often evaded in Jewish educational settings. These include self-esteem, bullying, eating problems, sexual identity, gender identity, and abuse. In this interactive workshop, participants will explore (1) social and emotional issues, (2) how we as educators and allies can better make our educational settings safer, and (3) how we can teach to the whole student. This session is geared towards those who work with or are interested in pre-teens and teens. Just breathe! Naomi Less takes participants through an exploration of breath and the soul—utilizing music, meditation and liturgy to center oneself. This is an alternative Shabbat morning experience. Female Empowerment in the Jewish Community

In the past 25 years, Jewish women have transformed the Jewish community, bringing innovations in communal organizing, prayer, and ritual. At the same time, women still face challenges in achieving their desired level of participation and leadership in our community. What are the challenges women face today? What can we do to further empower Jewish women? Hear from our panelists, who are engaged in paving new roads for women in our community.

For girls ages 13 – 20 who have experience singing or playing a rock instrument already and want to learn what a collaborative, creative, collective songwriter’s circle is all about. This is a safe space to work and develop material with other girls under the mentorship of master songwriter Naomi Less. **Please note, this session will use audio-visual equipment.
